Crochet 2: Beyond the Basics

Tuesdays, September 8 & 15, 4 - 5:30 pm

What You'll Learn:

Ready to move beyond the basics? This class is perfect for crocheters who are comfortable with chain, single crochet, and double crochet stitches and want to expand their skills. You'll learn the treble crochet stitch, how to create texture with front and back loop and post stitches, shape your work with increases and decreases, change colors, read patterns with confidence, and master finishing techniques that will take your projects to the next level.

In this class you will learn:

Class 1: Building New Skills (1.5 hours)
We'll begin with a brief review of the foundational stitches before learning the treble crochet stitch, front and back loop stitches, increases, decreases, and how to use locking stitch markers to make crocheting easier.

Class 2: Pattern Reading & Finishing (1.5 hours)
Learn how to change colors, read and follow a crochet pattern, and explore finishing techniques for polished projects. Students will begin a stitch sampler scarf to practice their new skills.

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner.
Students should be comfortable making a slip knot, crocheting a foundation chain, and working the slip stitch, single crochet, half-double crochet, and double crochet stitches or taken the Beginner Crochet 1 class

Class price: $70 + materials

Materials Needed:

Pattern: Stitch Sampler Scarf by Kate Ray
Yarn: At least two colors (1 skein each) worsted weight yarn, more if additional colors are desired.

We ask that all yarn for classes be purchased in the shop. 10% discount will be applied. Materials can be purchased at the shop prior to class.

Hook:  Size H/8 (5mm)
Notions: Locking Stitch markers,Tapestry/Darning needle to finish

All classes must be paid in advance. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48 hours before the start of class by emailing hello@thecreativeknot.com. Cancellations made within 72 hours of the class start time. Missed classes are not eligible for store credit. No exceptions.

Class Size: 6 person max. Must have two registered for class to occur.

Donna learned both knit & crochet as a child, and has fallen back in love with both (knitting for 15+ years, crocheting for 3+). Donna loves to knit & crochet pretty much everything she can get her hands on, including blankets, hats, shawls, cowls, fingerless mitts, tops & sweaters.  She loves anything fiber-related and also felts, dyes yarn, embroiders, and loves needlepoint & crewelwork.
