Over two sessions, you’ll learn the fundamentals of traditional basket weaving while creating your own handwoven gathering basket from start to finish.

Your instructor, Claire Gallagher, has been practicing basketry since the 1980s and brings decades of teaching experience to the workshop. She’ll guide you through preparing and working with reed, laying out a base with an integrated handle, weaving a simple pattern, shaping the sides of your basket, and creating, lashing and finishing the rim.

There’s plenty of room to make your basket your own! Play with the spacing of the reed, add touches of dyed reed for color, and adjust the shape and dimensions to create a finished basket that reflects your style.

You’ll leave with a beautiful, functional basket and experience with the traditional techniques of basket weaving.
