Sweater and Top Garment Sizing for Knitters & Crocheters
This class is open to both knitters and crocheters and is designed to help you create garments that fit beautifully. Suitable for all skill levels—from beginner to advanced—it’s especially helpful for anyone interested in making sweaters and other wearable projects.
You put so much time, effort, and love into your handmade pieces—don’t leave the fit to chance. In this workshop, we’ll cover the key elements that help you choose the right size and achieve the fit you want, including:
- What is ease and how it affects the fit of your garment
- How and where to measure your body accurately
- Understanding garment schematics
- The importance of gauge and how to measure your swatch correctly
- How yarn choice can influence drape, structure, and sizing
- Tips for making simple fit modifications
- How blocking can affect the final size and shape of your garment
Whether you knit or crochet, this class will help you approach garment projects with confidence and set you up for a finished piece you’ll love to wear.
Skill Level: Beginner to Advanced - All are welcome!
Materials:
- Sweater pattern of your choice
- Knit or crochet a swatch as the pattern calls for and bring to class
- Tape measure
- A sweater or top from your closet that you love how it fits!
- Optional: notebook to record your measurements
Class Size: 8 person max. Must have 2 registered for class to occur.

All classes must be paid in advance. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48 hours before the start of class. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the class start time, as well as missed classes, are not eligible for store credit. No exceptions.
